So you want to become a Dance Teacher?
It is essential that all dance teachers receive proper training. It is recommended that those aspiring to introduce members of the public to this hobby, sport and past-time, should receive training from an experienced dance teacher holding as high a qualification as possible.
Naturally, it is preferable that the trainer holds the position of an Examiner in the style of dancing involved but a person having passed their Fellowship examination is equally qualified to train prospective teachers.
For a description of the various qualification levels that can be achieved –

The British Dance Council publishes a very useful booklet that is of great help to the person who wishes to become a qualified teacher of dancing.
For a list of teachers who are able to undertake this training, please consult the General Secretary of one of the Examining Organisations that are Corporate Members of the British Dance Council.
